Two local mums are taking it a step further by hosting a market sell- ing items for children on Saturday, November 13. Nicola Canfield and Natasha Duffett are inviting parents to de-clutter their homes and sell things their children have out grown. More than 30 stall holders will gather at the Orewa Com- munity Centre, to hold Orewa's first Good as New Kids Pre-Loved Market, where you will be able to buy anything from a few simple Christmas stocking fillers to furniture for a nursery. The market will run 9am-12 noon. New Orewa funeral home manager Graeme Rodgers: Funeral director, Forrest Funeral Services Hibiscus Coast Browns Bay local resi- dent Graeme Rodgers has been appointed the assistant manager of Forrest Funeral Services, located at the entrance to the Glen Road shopping centre in Browns Bay. Graeme has lived in Browns Bay for 30 years and during that time has worked on the North Shore and on the Hibis- cus Coast as a funeral director and in the Fire Service. He will take over the management of Forrest's Orewa premises, which include a spacious new chapel and catering facility. Locals say they really appreciate the restful atmosphere in the chapel and the indoor-outdoor area for the family to get together over a cup of tea when the service is over,'' Graeme says. We're really proud of our premises and of the friendly, expert service we provide our families.'' In his 30 years in the funeral industry, Graeme says he has noticed quite a change in the way people respond to a death in the family. A funeral has become much more a celebration of someone's life. People like to have a lot more involvement in the ser- vice now, often knowing exactly what they want,'' Graeme says. These days, a lot of people come to us with their plans already well underway. They know the music they want to have at the service, the readings, the family members to be involved and so on. Sometimes it can get quite involved. We make sure it's all recorded, so their wishes will be known and so their fam- ily can be spared unnec- essary worry about what they would have wanted.'' Forrest's prepaid funeral plan is endorsed by the Funeral Directors' Association of New Zea- land.
