Pantomime is a political battle Otamatea Repertory Theatre will present original pantomime May The Forth Be With You for an eight-show season starting November 28. The play was written by Peter Flower and is set somewhere, deep in the Fronterra Galaxy , where the evil Garth Vainer and mystic OB John Key Noby are facing each other in a political battle. In true pantomime tradition the young hero is played by a woman and the heroine by a man. Jasmine Donald plays Luke Piewarmer and has brought her significant dancing skills to the role. Jeff Dyer is portraying the role of the queen in his first major role for the theatre. The show is directed by Ngaire Dent, and tickets are available from Tony s and www. iticket.co.nz at $15 or $10 for school-age chil- dren. The season runs from November 28 until Dec- ember 12. Call the theatre on (09) 431-8728 for more information. Christmas challenge Maungaturoto s Terri Donaldson is putting out a challenge to fellow residents to make the town look as festive as possible this Christmas, starting with the town s Christmas parade. Terri says some floats have already been entered for the December 4 parade, but there is room for many more, and the parade will also need stalls, marshalls and other helpers. For this event to work we need all the com- munity to get behind it, Terri says. Call Terri on (09) 431-8599 for more infor- mation.
