Mark of quality: According to DineOut, bronze medal winners are consistent and quality driven establishments who will seldom fail to please. When Masala first came to Stanmore Bay, it had just one aim -- to elevate the status of Indian cuisine in New Zealand. Its owners have defi- nite ideas about what close attention to detail can do for food from the subcontinent. The results have been, well, brilliant. In a landmark event for Indian restaurants, Masala Stanmore Bay bagged the Bronze Medal at the DineOut People s Choice Awards 2010. To put that in perspec- tive, it is the first and only Indian restaurant in New Zealand to reach the medals podium. According to DineOut, The bronze medal winners are consistent and quality driven establishments who will seldom fail to please. You can organise a meal here safe in the knowledge that you will be well looked after and come away smiling. That is indeed a feat worthy of high recog- nition, and a massive congratulation is in order. The staff and management take the opportunity to thank their guests for voting them to the Bronze Medal. A visit to the res- taurant reveals the man- agement has put together a superb dineout destination -- tastefully appointed interiors, sheltered decks and alfresco gardens. A maharajah would feel at home here! The food is nothing less than spectacular -- spices are used with great delicacy, reminding diners what they have been truly missing and only the freshest ingredients and produce are sourced. India is a big country, but Masala manages to cover most of it, and its menu is a whirlwind tour of the country s massive geography from the northwestern frontier to Goa, from Punjab to the South, from refined cuisine to street snacks. All dinner mains are available for just $10 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for dine-in, takeout or delivery. Lunch costs just $10, seven days, dine-in or takeout. One must not forget to mention the outstanding service. The staff are eager to please but not fawning; they are also knowledgeable about the food and matching alcoholic drinks. The versatile team of chefs can also create those delicacies for your weddings and private functions. Masala is at 195 Brightside Rd, Stanmore Bay. Phone 09-428-1666. Lunch 11.30am-2.30pm. Dinner 5pm till late.
