Tough economic times have seen the Orewa Baptist Church's Christ- mas food parcel scheme flooded with requests for hampers. Unfortunately, dona- tions for the hampers are not keeping pace with demand, associate pastor Paul Collins says. This year instead of getting people in need to ask us for a hamper, we've asked people to nominate deserving recipients.'' He says they are hoping donations will increase in the lead-up to Christmas so that every- one who has been nomi- nated receives a parcel. Decorated red wheelie bins are at the Orewa Baptist Church, Count- down and New World supermarkets in Orewa, ready to receive donations of non- perishable grocery items, including toiletries and other basics. Contact the church on (09) 426-6976 for more information. Alaska cruise win Well done: Mondo Travel Orewa's Heather Bint is congratulated by Holland America's Tony Smith aboard the MS Volendam. Mondo Travel Orewa's Heather Bint will soon be cruising in Alaska as her prize for being a top- selling cruise agent for Holland America. Heather toured and lunched on board the Volendam with Orewa clients recently. It's fantastic to have the opportunity to take our valued clients on board for a ship tour and to enjoy the five-star cuisine,'' Heather says. The Volendam will be based in Auckland as a floating hotel for the 2011 Rugby World Cup and will then be joined in Auckland by Holland America's Zaandam for the 2011/2012 summer cruising season. Katherine Gibson of Arkles Bay, Cath Mills of Leigh, Rodney Simpson of Warkworth, and Kirsty Strid of Stanmore Bay have won double passes to see Shapeshif- ter, Ladi6 and Sunshine Sound System at the Mangawhai Tavern.
