Fundraiser: From left, Helensville District Golf Club golf administrator Sandy March, general manager Raewyn Thomas holding the winning ticket, club member Bill Spence, and greens' superintendent Paul Butler who drew the winning tickets. Photo: CLC CREATIVE The prizewinners of Helensville District Golf Club s 2010 membership raffle have been drawn. With thousands of dollars worth of prizes up for grabs, the raffle was a great success. General manager Raewyn Thomas says that at $25 a ticket, they were not entirely sure how many tickets they would sell. But members bought more than 600 tickets producing a net income of more than $11,000 for club funds. We were thrilled. The first prize of four-years membership was won by Brian Hickey, who has been a member of the club since 2002. The winning tickets were drawn by greens superintendent Paul Butler using a computer- ised random draw sys- tem. We have been looking at the club s image dur- ing the past year, says newly elected president Rick McLean. The hard work of the staff, executive and mar- keting group is now being rewarded with exceptional support from club members, Mr McLean says. Other winners were Brian Osborne (32-inch TV), Shelley and Gordon Good (digital camera), Desmond Anderson (hi-fi micro system) and Carol and Richard Thompson (DVD player). Computers great gifts for schools Christmas gift: Barfoot and Thompson's Orewa branch manager Clive Groos delivers computers to Orewa Primary IT head Nicky Clark and Room 20 students. Schools around the Auckland region are receiving free computers for Christmas, courtesy of real estate company Barfoot and Thompson. The pre-loved PCs were being made avail- able to local schools fol- lowing an IT upgrade at the company, managing director Peter Thompson says. These computers no longer meet our requirements, but they are ideal for the sorts of programmes that pri- mary and intermediate students need them for. Ten were delivered to Room 20 at Orewa Pri- mary School. The extra computers increase the class s lab to 16, and enables students to split across two pods to do separate studies and work, including research, making movies and publishing. Staff from around Barfoot and Thompson s 65 offices were invited to nominate local schools in need of the added com- puters on a first come first served basis, with lots of 10 to 15 com- puters delivered to the schools during the last few weeks.
