There will be drinks specials, karaoke and a great atmosphere to see in the new year. The bar and staff are looking festive and owner-operator Heidi McMillan says they re looking forward to celebrating the holiday season at the bar. Karaoke s been popu- lar at the Crow s Nest -- the bar was packed out for their recent compe- tition. In first place and winning $500 was Darin Heller of west Auckland; David Paraha of Manu- kau was second, winning $200; and Danyelle Nathan of Stanmore Bay third, winning $100. Each of these final three won a recording session at Whangaparaoa Recording Studio, just behind the Crow s Nest. Their singles and videos can be viewed on YouTube, just enter the performer s name into the search box. The Crow s Nest has a competition to see which finalist will get the most public votes. The winner will receive an additional cash prize and another recording session. Voting is by liking their YouTube clip. There s always some- thing to do at the Crow s Nest. On Mondays from 7pm you can join Wuzza for some Texas Hold Em, or try the ever-popular pool competition on Tuesdays starting at 7pm. The Crow s Nest is a great place to unwind with a reasonably priced drink after work, with happy hour from 5pm to 6pm every weekday, and sports fans are right at home watching live games on the bar s two big screens. You can impress your friends with your singing talent with the help of DJ Debs, the Crow s Nest s regular karaoke DJ. She s at the bar on Thursday and Friday from 9pm until late, and if you re not into late nights you can karaoke on a Sunday from 5pm to 9pm. Heidi says everyone is welcome at the Crow s Nest.
