Omaha Bay Vine- yard: 189 Takatu Rd, Matakana, www.omaha bay.co.nz, phone 423- 0022. The tasting fee of $5, for a choice of four wines, is refundable on purchase. Wines range from a trusty chardonnay to a more obscure montepulciano, and grapes are sourced from Marlborough, Hawke s Bay and Kumeu as well as the estate. At this time of the year the rose ´, made from syrah, is the most popular and the new sparkling flora, called Fab, is flying out the door. Platters of food are available for pur- chase in the tasting room, and the fabulous views are free. 9.
